Operations Manager
ROLE:
The role purpose is to effectively lead and manage the day – to – day Operations at Douglas Laing Bottling Plant. The role will be responsible for Warehousing, Vatting and Bottling activities, while continuously improving on key performance indicators (Health & Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People).
To play a key role in fostering high-performing, engaged and values-driven teams. Being responsible for the day-to-day leadership, support and development of their team members, ensuring consistent delivery of high standards, operational excellence and alignment with our company culture.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Through effective leadership of their team, responsible for safely optimising performance across key performance indicators (Health & Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People).
· Set highest standard of Safety within the Bottling Plant by improving the processes and systems through effective engagement of their team. Driving forward the Safety Culture on site will be seen as one of key requirements of this role.
· Drive Quality Culture within the Bottling Plant by being the key lead of change, overseeing that their direct reports are champions within their areas of responsibility.
· Consistently role model our values and behaviours by leading with integrity, respect and accountability. Act as a cultural ambassador, encouraging collaboration, inclusion and a shared commitment to our business goals.
· Accountable for maintaining 100% service fulfilment through robust production planning and delivery.
· Accountable for capacity planning and maintaining high levels of efficiencies (within set targets) within Operations.
· Accountable for maintaining stock accuracy within physical and system parameters (SAP) for the full life – cycle of materials and finished goods on site.
· Maintain key relationships with internal and external customers to provide exceptional service of delivering top quality product.
· Accountable for budgetary costs to cost – effectively achieve required activities and further finding savings within operations (through a mix of continuous improvement, just do it and CAPEX initiatives). ·
Accountable for all people related processes within the Bottling Plant (e.g.: RTW, Absence Management, Holidays Management, Development conversations, 1-2-1s). Drive performance and capability through coaching, development and honest, ongoing feedback. Create an environment that enables individuals to thrive and take ownership of their growth and contributions.
· Build a culture of open communication and psychological safety by holding regular one-to-one check-ins, supporting employee well-being, and maintaining strong working relationships. · First point of contact and escalation for any Operations related matters. · Development/succession role, which means exposure to the wider business. This role will be expected to stand – in for full site responsibility during holidays and other events.
Key Skills and Competencies:
· 7+ years of Manufacturing experience.
· 5+ years of people management experience (ideally in Food & Beverage environment).
· Previous experience with ERP systems (e.g.: SAP, M3).
· Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Leading by example is essential within this role.
· People & processes driven individual.
· Management of multi – disciplinary teams is preferred (strong focus on production/bottling is essential).
· Lean Six Sigma qualification is desirable.
· H&S qualification is essential (IOSH Managing Safely).
· Quality qualification is essential (HACCP, Food Safety Level 2 or 3).
· Management and leadership qualifications are desirable.
